KAMPALA, UGANDA — His Holiness Pope Leo XIV has officially appointed Most Rev. Tomasz Grysa, Titular Archbishop of Rubicon, as the new Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda. The diplomatic breakthrough, released under formal embargo by the Apostolic Nunciature in Kampala, marks a new chapter for the Holy See's representation in East Africa.
Archbishop Grysa replaces Archbishop Luigi Bianco, who was reassigned in May 2025 to head the nunciature in Slovenia. Since then, the Ugandan Nunciature's affairs have been temporarily overseen by Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Rev. Fr. Georges Kwami Kouwonou.

Biographical
Born on October 16, 1970, in Poznań, Poland, Archbishop Grysa was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Poznań on May 25, 1995. Following a robust 21-year climb through the global papal diplomatic service, he was elevated to the dignity of Archbishop by the Vatican in late 2022 before receiving his latest assignment to Kampala.
