Easter Pastoral Message 2026 – Uganda Episcopal Conference
The Catholic Bishops of Uganda extend Easter greetings, celebrating Christ’s resurrection as the triumph of life over death and light over darkness. They share the Pope’s appreciation for the growth of the Church in Uganda, highlighting the increase in clergy, religious vocations, and lay commitment. The message emphasizes Easter as a time of renewal, calling Christians to live out the fruits of the Spirit — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control — while rejecting hatred, envy, immorality, and division.
The Bishops urge reconciliation in Uganda, especially after political divisions and violence during recent elections, appealing to the government to release those detained for political reasons and to foster justice, constitutionalism, and peace. They encourage forgiveness, healing, and unity, invoking the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi as a model for sowing love and peace. The message concludes with a blessing for a joyful and peaceful Easter, affirming: “Christ is risen; Alleluia!”
