Rwanda Hosts the SIGNIS World Congress 2026

The World Catholic Association for Communication (SIGNIS) is holding its World Congress 2026 at Sainte Famille Hotel in Kigali, Rwanda, from 3rd to 8th August 2026. The Congress marks a historic milestone as it is being hosted on the African continent for the first time.
Held every four years, the Congress brings together Catholic communicators, media professionals, scholars, and pastoral agents from more than 40 countries to reflect on the theme: “Digital Communication for Cultural Harmony and Environmental Wellbeing.”
Throughout the Congress, participants are taking part in plenary sessions, workshops, cultural exchanges, and networking opportunities aimed at strengthening the Church’s mission of communication in today’s rapidly evolving media landscape. The programme also provides a platform for sharing experiences, exploring emerging communication trends, and fostering collaboration in promoting the Gospel through the media.
The Congress is expected to strengthen the global network of Catholic communicators and inspire innovative approaches to evangelisation through digital media while advancing cultural harmony and care for our common home.
The participants from Uganda include Fr. Philip Odii, Executive Secretary of the Social Communications Department of the Uganda Catholic Secretariat; Sr. Sarah Muhindo of Kasese Guide Radio; Fr. Richard Akol of Radio Maria Uganda–Moroto; Claire Nayebare of Fort Portal Diocese; Francis Owiny of Kotido Diocese; and Mary Immaculate Abulo, a freelance journalist.
